What Is Tubular Tangential Flow Microfiltration?
Tangential Flow Microfiltration is a filtration system with organic tubular ultrafiltration membrane as the filter element. As a form of membrane element, organic tubular membrane is suitable for membrane separation technology such as ultrafiltration and microfiltration. Its advantages are wide flow channel, turbulent flow of feed liquid in the tube, and low requirements for the pretreatment accuracy of feed liquid. Tubular membrane is easy to clean. In addition to chemical reagents, it can also be cleaned by mechanical physical scrubbing. The pressure loss of tubular membrane components is small, so its flow channel is long and the filtration efficiency is high.

Membrane permeation principle:
Tangential flow microfiltration (TFF) adopted in tangential flow ultrafiltration system is a filtration form in which the flow direction of liquid is tangential (parallel) to the surface of the filter membrane. Compared with the traditional filtration method in which the flow direction is consistent with the filtration direction, the particle accumulation on the surface of the tangential flow filter membrane is less, the filtration speed is stable, and it is suitable for the separation of large volume samples. Among them, molecules larger than the membrane pore size are intercepted and gradually concentrated, and substances smaller than the membrane pore size pass through the membrane and are separated from the macromolecular solution, realizing the separation of macromolecules and small molecules. Therefore, tangential flow ultrafiltration is often used for the concentration, dialysis, buffer exchange, and separation of molecules of different sizes of biological products.
